AMRI Hospital Bhubaneswar collaborates with Medanta for Liver Care Treatment

AMRI Hospital Bhubaneswar, recently launched a Liver Treatment OPD Clinic in association with Medanta – the Medicity, a leading Gurugram-based multi-specialty medical institute. It is a robust move by the hospital to bolster the healthcare segment in Odisha.
Patients now have an easy access to world class treatments, including critical medical services like liver transplantation at affordable prices.
The new facility commenced its operations on April 15, 2018. The specialized liver treatment clinic will offer its OPD services twice a month. It is said to be the first ever clinic to offer world-class liver treatment including critical medical services like liver transplantation to patients from Odisha as well as from other parts of the eastern region of the country.
The clinic is headed by Dr AS Soin, Chairman, Institute of Liver Transplant & Regenerative Medicine, Medanta – The Medicity along with Dr Prashant Bhangui, Senior Consultant, Institute of Liver Transplant & Regenerative Medicine, Medanta – The Medicity.
Dr AS Soin is one of the leading surgeons who has performed more than 2,700 liver transplants all over the world. Currently, he heads the Medicity, which is the country’s largest and most successful liver transplant program at Medanta. The programme is categorised as Tier I on an international level.
Liver transplants are needed when the liver stops functioning adequately. They are usually an option for patients with end-stage liver diseases. In majority of the cases, it is the only cure for liver insufficiency or liver failure as there is no alternative for the vital functions performed by liver in human body. Thus, a liver transplant is imperative in case of Acute Liver Failure (also known as fulminant hepatic failure) as well as chronic liver failure. Being a complex process, the surgery requires careful implantation of the liver.
“Liver transplant is a complex procedure, which requires several critical simultaneous parameters to be addressed in a time sensitive manner. Rapidly changing lifestyles are leading to a higher incidence of liver disease. With the launch of this facility, we will address this vital health issue in the best possible manner,” said Dr AS Soin, Chairman, Institute of Liver Transplant & Regenerative Medicine, Medanta – The Medicity.
Dr (Lt Col) Vivek Lal, MD, PhD, Vice President & Unit Head, AMRI Hospital, Bhubaneswar said, “In our strong commitment to provide the best healthcare services to the people of Odisha, we have launch ed this unique partnership with Medanta – the Medicity to fulfil the long awaited regional requirement of a liver transplantation program. Once the program is fully established, needy patients can avail this facility here in Bhubaneswar itself. The said program will be another feather in the cap of AMRI hospitals, which stands committed to offer comprehensive tertiary medical care in Eastern India.”
Over the years, AMRI Hospitals has been consistent in its commitment to offer comprehensive tertiary medical care in eastern India. Dr Vivek Lal, the Vice-President and Unit Head of AMRI Hospitals deems the collaboration with Medanta as another feather on the hospital’s cap. It is certainly a milestone in its continuing growth and success.
